Motorway A2 Wien – Graz – Klagenfurt – Villach – exit: Arnoldstein – country road B111 direction: Hermagor – in Hermagor direction: Kötschach-Mauthen - appr. 1km after passing St. Daniel the approach to the Birkenhof is on the right side

From Italy:

Plöckenpass - Mauthen - direction: Kötschach - in Kötschach right direction: Richtung Hermagor/Villach - after 2km - right bend (speed limit 70km/h) - left bend - at the end the approach to the Birkenhof is on the left side
If you come from Kötschach (direction to Hermagor), don't take this left driveway. This is a narrow road and lead through the village, where often kids are playing on the street. Please, stay on the road and take the next left driveway in aprox. 200m.

München(Munic) - Salzburg - Villach - connection train to Hormagor, bus to Kötschach-Mauthen station Höfling
